IMA

I took the seniors up to the Indianapolis Museum of Art for some time away from home. Hopefully to get some motivation and time to think (6 hours of drive time) about where they are going and how what they are doing fits into the art world. The IMA is fantastic for its range of works from living artists to historical relics. I thought I would drop a few of my favorites from "this" visit. I say "this" visit because every time I go somewhere for a repeat visit I see things that are new and exciting, as well as of course seeing some familiar old friends like this bench that is actually not labeled although my assumption it that it is a George Nakashima. It is one of two book matched benches in the section of the gallery. Every time I am at the IMA I go see this old friend, have a seat and a chat. It is one of my favorite things there for a number of reasons, one major one being that I can touch it. 

Best seat in the house. Cherry slab bench.

I was so taken by this multi panel triptych on the life and death of St James

Detail form the aforementioned triptych wonderful painting.

Something about this little painting had me standing still for some time. 

Follower of Hieronymus Bosch. I have always been a fan of his stuff ever since seeing the garden of earthly delights. But it was interesting to see a "followers" piece and see the differences.
