Opportunity: Position at KHS

Pending funding and approval, KHS is searching for a candidate for a Student Programs Specialist position. We are looking for someone who knows the arts and humanities and is familiar with object-based and document-based teaching using historical artifacts, artworks and documents to engage children ages 4-18, in both formal and informal learning environments. The position demands a unique combination of creativity and attention to detail.

The Student Programs Specialist will facilitate school programs both on site and through outreach programming. They will also be responsible for cultivating new relationships with schools in the surrounding region for museum/school partnership programs. This position will also be responsible for conducting general public tours of various KHS sites as well as other duties assigned. This team-oriented position within the Education division has responsibility for both program planning and implementation.

Minimum requirements are: a BA (MA preferred) in one of the humanities, Education or a related field; experience in teaching, museum education or public history; skill in working within teams to develop children and/or young adult educational programs; and a demonstrated commitment to the concept of informal history learning. This is a full-time position based in Frankfort, Kentucky. The position is on duty Tuesday through Saturday.

Wish I saw this earlier. I'm already set up to volunteer with the KHS. I might not be completely eligible, but I would have tried.
