Interesting comment about "festishizing brushwork" -- which we may be able to squeeze into our discussion this week in Modern Art. It would be interesting to tease out the distinctions between festishizing and homage, impasto, and mannerisms - the quartet of terms used in your post.

For those who didn't make it Friday, I'll share with you a few thoughts: the show demonstrated a successful series of musings on the term "abstract." While the curatorial statement points to subject, form, and abstraction as a triad, I prefer to see form and content as a dyad in the works on view (primarily paintings). View some of the works here:
