Opportunity: Summer Internship

Summer PAID Undergraduate Internship: Camp ArtyFact
The Kentucky Historical Society (KHS) is a state agency and membership
organization that is fully accredited by the American Association of
Museums. The KHS mission is to engage people in the exploration of the
Commonwealth's diverse heritage by providing connections to the past,
perspective on the present, and inspiration for the future.

KHS has an undergraduate summer internship available with the Camp
ArtyFact program, a multidisciplinary studio arts program for students
ages five to 13.



In these classes students create works of art in the

classrooms that were inspired by guided explorations of the KHS campus.



This intern will compile results from three semesters of student
surveys, write an analysis of these results, and offer programmatic
suggestions based on the analysis. The intern will also work directly
with the Interpretive Education Administrator in the ordering and
maintaining of supplies, maintenance of classrooms, registration of
students for courses, weekly logistics, and attending an instructors'
meeting. The individual may also act as a teacher's assistant in
certain classes and will act as a liaison between the Instructors and
the goings on of KHS. This includes being the face of the program for
participating families.




The internship will consist of 225 hours from approximately June 20 to
July 29, 2011, with one day of required orientation the week of June
8th. The exact start and end dates will be mutually determined by the
internship supervisor and the successful candidate. Intern must be
willing to commit to a regular duty schedule.



Minimum requirements: Must be a recent college graduate or currently
enrolled in an accredited college or university with a junior or senior
standing. Preferred major in history, education, art, or other related
field. Must have experience working with children, excellent oral
communication skills, and have a friendly disposition. Candidate must
also be able to manage numerous tasks efficiently and be proficient in
Microsoft Word and Excel.



This is a temporary position based in Frankfort, KY. Employee benefits
are not available. Housing is not provided. Compensation is $1,700
maximum, based on hours worked.
