From 1 to 1 million – fun facts about Kentucky Crafted: The Market FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky Crafted: The Market, the award-winning arts marketplace that had its debut in 1982 at the Kentucky Horse Park, returns to Lexington at the Lexington Convention Center after a long run in Louisville at the Kentucky Exposition Center.


From 1 to 1 million, here are some fun facts about The Market.

1 – Kentucky Crafted: The Market has been rated the No. 1 Fair and Festival in the nation three times by the readers of AmericanStyle, the preeminent magazine for collectors of contemporary craft.

2 – Two billboards have been unveiled in Lexington to invite all Kentuckians to The Market. Do you know where they are?

3 and 4 – Mark your calendars for March 3 and 4 to experience Kentucky Crafted: The Market at the Lexington Convention Center.

6 – Artisans from six states beyond Kentucky will be guest exhibitors at The Market. Look for artists representing Best of Missouri Hands, Georgia Made Georgia Grown, Indiana Artisan, Ohio Designer Craftsmen and the Southern Highland Craft Guild.

8 or 10 – Admission is $8 if you buy your tickets online athttp://1.usa.gov/Market2012, or $10 at the door.

14 – Have fun participating in one or more of the 14 workshops and hands-on activities offered throughout the days of The Market. Get involved in a wide spectrum of arts including gospel singing, creative writing, storytelling, songwriting, Japanese fabric dyeing, weaving, drumming and dance.

15 – The Kentucky Stage will feature 15 live musical performances by the talented artists of the Kentucky Arts Council’s Performing Arts Directory. Hear Americana, Celtic, jazz, gospel, world and roots-rock music, including original tunes by some of Kentucky’s best singer/songwriters.

20 – In 2011, The Southeast Tourism Society has named Kentucky Crafted: The Market a Top 20 Event in the southeastern United States.

30 – Expect a celebration. This is Kentucky Crafted: The Market’s 30th birthday!

181 – Visit the booths of 181 exhibitors at Kentucky Crafted: The Market – where tradition meets cutting edge – and shop for paintings, prints, jewelry, wearable art, home decor, furniture and artisan foods along with Kentucky-related books, CDs and DVDs.

10,000 – There are 10,000 parking spaces within easy walking distance of the Lexington Convention Center in downtown Lexington.

1,000,000 – This state-sponsored wholesale/retail arts show produced by the Kentucky Arts Council generates more than $1 million annually in economic impact for the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
