Art: The Department of Art at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in painting at the Assistant Professor level. We seek a practicing artist, capable of inspired teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Applicants should be grounded in both traditional and contemporary practices in painting, as well as demonstrate an advanced understanding of the conceptual issues affecting contemporary art and have active exhibition record. Requires MFA and one academic year teaching experience beyond the TA level. The successful candidate will participate in monthly department-wide, cross-media critiques, and will play an active role developing the painting program. The studio teaching load is 2/2; departmental, university, and professional service is expected. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. Please send a letter of introduction, a one page artist's statement, a one page statement of teaching philosophy, a sample syllabus, C.V., names and contact information for three references, 20 digital images of professional work and 20 digital images of students' work to Chair, Painting Search Committee, Department of Art, 207 Fine Arts Bldg., University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY 40506-0022. Materials must be provided on a Mac formatted CD/DVD, (in jpeg or Quicktime formats only; no PowerPoint please). Application materials will not be returned.
