By the Book
A special thank-you to visiting artists Meda and Veda Rives, whose "BookEnviron" now graces the Anne Wright Wilson Fine Arts Gallery at Georgetown College. The Rives sisters were wonderful guests. In addition to spending lots of time with students while installing their hand-made paper environment last week, they gave a refreshing artist talk during Friday's opening reception, where students not only gained Nexus credit, they also learned more about printmaking, artist books, and the processes behind making paper for large-scale, sculptural installations.
These artists not only gave of their time, they also gave of their expertise by staying after-hours on Friday evening to help with the Class of 2013 September Reviews. Everyone in the art department appreciates these types of opportunities--THANK YOU Meda, Veda, and to Daniel Cantu, Terrell Taylor, Katie Mann and Lynsey Jordan for installation assistance. "BookEnviron" is on view through October 22, with additional hours during Family Weekend, October 13 & 14, 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and during Georgetown's ArtWalk, Thursday, October 18, 5-8 p.m.
