Have you ever considered studying abroad? Or perhaps would like to go again? If so, you'll have a chance next winter. I'll be leading a two-week course to London, England and Dublin, Ireland over the winter break of 2012–13 through CCSA, the Cooperative Center for Study Abroad. It will be a digital photography class focused on the topic of landscape/cityscape and place. We'll fly out at the end of December and stay a week in London, including New Year's, and then hop over to Dublin to finish out our time. Once home, we'll continue to edit and refine our photographs, post them online for critique and discussion, and finally produce a self-published book via Blurb. You can see my sample HERE.
I had the good fortune of leading this same class four years ago with a fantastic group of students (pictured at the top), both from Georgetown College and other colleges and universities. In addition to the two major cities, we visited a variety of attractions and nearby locales, including Stonehenge (above), riding the London Eye (below), the Globe Theatre, Bath, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Glendalough (at the bottom), and Howth.
Online applications for the trip will begin through CCSA around April 1 and the Winter 2012–13 catalogs should be available soon. However, on-campus meetings won't begin until the fall of 2012. Final deadline for applications will be at the end of September on the 28th. There are no prerequisites for the course, so it is open to anyone;
although a class in photography and/or digital imaging is recommended.
So if you're interested in working with the camera, if you like to explore the world around you, if you'd like to study abroad, if you'd like to make fantastic friends and great memories, then perhaps this course is for you. In the meantime, if you have questions or want to know more about the trip, stop by my office to chat (Wilson Art Building, room 107).
