This week, Xochitl (aka Sheila) Barnes, President of the American Academy of Equine Art, is offering a workshop on campus for AAEA painting members. Workshop students have been enjoying the Anne Wright Wilson Fine Arts Building, the upper veranda & golf course (thank you, Daniel Graham), and our galleries. A bit about their instructor: Xochitl (Sheila) Barnes has been drawing and painting all her life – both parents were artists. Sheila began doing commissioned portraits of horses in 1971. A Full member of the AAEA, she has been a student of the Academy since classes began at the Horse Park in ’92. The AAEA invites all of the campus and community to attend the Fall Open Juried Exhibition and Sale on Friday, September 14, 6-8 pm at the Scott County Arts & Cultural Center.But, before you head over there on Friday night, take in the artist talk in the GC art galleries. On Friday at 12:30 pm come one, come all to hear more about the Hanover Connection.
