Perpendicular Dreams — Work by Julien Pacaud

In ART234, Computer Art, we've been exploring the ideas of photo and image collage with Photoshop. An excellent example of this style and possibility of work popped up on NOTCOT recently. Julien Pacaud combines illustrations, photographs, and magazine imagery into unique and imaginative allegories.

A Call for Contributors

Running and updating an outstanding blog takes passion and investment. This is a call/challenge for any art student or faculty who might be interested in becoming a contributor to the GC::VA blog.

For the most part, Daniel and I make all of the posts. As a result, the content generally leans toward our areas of interest and influence. I'd like to extend and invitation for others to become involved by adding to the discussion and expanding the blogs range of ideas.

If you might be interested, please contact Daniel or myself and we can send you the online invitation to join. The only requirement is that you have a Blogger account and a passion for art and our department.

Thanks for your consideration.

University Open, 2009

It's that time of year again. LexArts is taking submissions for their annual University Open. This is a fantastic and FREE opportunity for art students to show their work, and we have plenty of students within our department who could easily make it into the show. All it takes is the time to fill out an application and submit your work. Cash reward for first place is $500!

Last year Peggy Coots and Stephanie Putnam both exhibited work in the show. I'd love to see Georgetown students take over this year; and I believe we can. To see a catalogue from last year's show, click HERE.

The application deadline is March 18, just over a month away (and in the middle of Spring Break). A poster with more information is hanging in the entrance of the WAB. If you have further questions, contact Nathan Zamarron at 859-255-2951 or nzamarron@lexarts.org.

Good luck!
